Food Porn Friday | Fried Lobster, Cheese & Caramel | Nix’s Mate

This exists…nixsmate_lobster

Whoever thought to mix lobster, cheese and caramel all in one dish is nothing short of a legend in my mind. And then to somehow make it taste good?! Genius. At Nix’s Mate they serve lightly fried lobster with a caramel sauce and warm vermont cheddar sauce (!!!) and green onions and chiles. What is that? I don’t even know. What I do know is when you see it you’ll inevitably have the desire to fill a kiddie pool with the caramel cheese sauce and and jump in.

Happy Friday!

  1. Caramel cheese?! Holy crap that looks ridiculous!

  2. Megan says:

    Definitely my favorite dish there!

  3. Cheese with caramel? Oh wow! I”ll be all over that. One of my friends from Argentina swears by cheddar cheese with dulce de leche 🙂

  4. beantowneats says:

I need to try this dish again. I remember thinking it was too sweet for me, but after reading everyone rave about it, maybe I just didn’t get all of the ingredients in one bite. So great to see you guys there!

  5. Wow. I never would have thought to combine cheese and caramel, but now that I know such a combination exists (+ fried lobster!!), I *must* try it. Thanks!

  6. After reading this blog post last Saturday, I booked a reservation at Nix’s Mate for that evening. The lobster appetizer with caramel and cheddar sauce was incredible. The entrees were not as impressive but I would definitely return for the lobster appetizer if I got the chance. Thanks for the tip!
