Brunching Like a Boss at M3 | Southern Food in Somerville

If there is a secret to staying skinny, you certainly won’t find it at M3; considering the name is short for “Meat + Three” I guess that doesn’t come as a huge shock. The moniker itself is an ode to Southern dining and the concept of ordering your main meat paired with three sides, and let’s just say that M3 has tons of them. But today we’re not here to talk about their dinner (although can catch a glimpse of the full menu here), we’re here to talk about their brunch.

What you will find is some of the most well executed gorge-worthy brunch itsems I’ve ever seen: homemade biscuits topped with almond buttah, bacon dipped in chocolate, burgers grilled in duck fat and waffles paired with a healthy serving of deep-fried chicken wings — and that’s just scratching the surface. Brace yourself before looking at the long list of specialty scones and sides, your head will come close to exploding when it realizes your eyes are practically quadruple the size of your stomach at this point. You’ll feel naughty for giving in to the pulled pork hash or a big stack of blueberry pancakes, but let’s be serious, there’s nothing wrong with being a little naughty sometimes. In fact, at M3 you’ve got to be if you want to take full advantage of their Southern-inspired spread and really enjoy your experience to its fullest potential.

The part of my brain (and belly) that wanted to behave immediately started eyeing the watermelon salad, but truth be told I would have been completely embarrassed if I ordered it. Let’s just say this is not the type of place you go to eat a salad. With 20+ canned beers it also doubles as the perfect place to kick off your Sunday Funday. You’ll find a variety of offerings like “Sankaty Light” from Cisco and Butternut’s “Porkslap.” And if you thought boxed wine was just reserved for college kids on a budget, think again; they’ve also got a few blends that come from a box, because that’s how they roll down south. If it was Food Porn Friday, the photos below would easily put any celebrity sex tape to shame, but I figured I’d get this up sooner rather than later so you can start planning out your upcoming weekend around Sunday brunch starting now.
