Food Porn Friday | Everything from il Frantoio | Lubriano, Italy

On that trip to Italy I started telling you about…I spent some time with my Italian cousins as well. They are my great grandmother’s sister’s kids, I think that makes them my third cousins? I don’t know. What I do know is that they have amazing taste in food. They live in Orvieto but drove me to another town in the Lazio region, Lubriano, for lunch. Il Frantoio was the restaurant. It’s located in a cave that used to be olive oil mill, so not only was all the food gorgeous and worthy of Food Porn Friday, the scenery was unreal as well. Also I’ve just been in pasta mood lately, so even though this is on another continent, it’s pretty much what I’ve been daydreaming about all day.

Happy Friday!!

il frantoio lubriano

…starting with mixed bruschetta and olives.

il frantoio lazio

then Gnocchi con Ragu alla Chianina (which is apparently a type of cow native to the Lazio/Umbria region)

ombrichelli

The Ombrichelli all’Amatriciana was my favorite. Ombrichelli is homemade pasta popular in that region as well. It’s a little thicker than spaghetti and goes really well with red bacon-y sauce.

rucola

Third course, Tagliata (grilled beef) served with arugula, tomatoes and parmesan.

And now for the scenery…
