Food Porn Friday | Montasio Cheese | Legends of Europe

montasio2We never get sick of cheese. Especially not huge chunks of DOP straight out of Italy. Hellllllllo Montasio! This little lady traveled all the way from Friuli-Venezia Giulia way up in the northeast corner of the country to my plate at Meritage in the Boston Harbor Hotel, where she eventually met her inevitable consumption. She comes from cows milk and is pretty tame; mild, but a little fruity.  She does well with people and will likely make for the ideal +1 at any holiday parties you attend this season. She also pairs well with Barbaresco and Bordeaux, two of my favorites, so basically I’m in love.
