In light of the upcoming holiday where you will undoubtedly be eating at least five hot dogs (per day), I thought it would be appropriate to share a recent experience from none other than Buffalo, NY. Whaaaaat?
I visited The Buff (as I refer to it) for the first time a few weeks ago, and my first thought was wings. Obviously, right? Wrong. According to my friends, Ted’s Hot Dogs is much higher on the eating agenda than wings. Apparently transplanted Buffalonians living around the country can’t and won’t eat another hot dog. They order religiously from Ted’s online store and swear by it.
Because just one foot long hot dog wouldn’t allow me all the topping combinations I wanted, I went for two: one with pickles and Ted’s famous homemade hot sauce, and the other with their homemade sweet relish. When you walk in the place you know its the real deal. You order a hot dog, they throw it on the charcoal grill, and one person’s job is dedicated to making the correct strategic incisions into each hot dog to ensure that it cooks perfectly.
Next time you talk to someone from Buffalo, ask about Ted’s, they go a little crazy about it.

oooh i love red hots (my mom’s family is from Rochester, NY and they eat a LOT of them). Love the pickles!
The traditional order is two regular size with *everything* (this does not include latecomers like chili or cheese), onion rings and a loganberry.
